    Warwick's Bench linseed oil paint

Published by David Peter Goodwin on 12th Jul 2022

I have been using Oricalcum/Brouns & Co linseed oil paint for the past 4 years on a property facing the sea on the south coast of the Isle of Wight and, unlike previous paints used, it is standing up to the harsh marine climate. It is very easy to apply and both the raw linseed oil which I use as the undercoat and the linseed oil paint have a pleasant smell! (Some other paints give me a headache.) I have taken the woodwork back to bare wood but it is very satisfying seeing the linseed oil soaking into the wood which is 160 years old and I can hear the house thanking me for its new look! The house looks much better than the neighbouring property where the owner has had uPVC double glazing installed. I have taken the sash windows out one by one and boarded them up to allow me to do minor carpentry repairs on the joints in connection with their refurbishment.
