The board of maintenance of the Palais Royale in Brussels had some clear parameters in mind when chosing a paint brand for the refurbishment of the main entrance and stairways. The paint had to meet the following criteria:
- compatibility with existing linseed paints
- thin coats allowing the retention of sharpness in the plaster substrate
- the paint had to have low or no solvents
- matching historic colours needed to be available
Emente not only met these criteria but exceeded them. Both Matsola and Satola are based on natural oils, so it ws perfectly compatible on various existing type of paintwork. The flow and consistancy of the Matsola paint was ideal for the use on the intricate detailing of the plasterwork. Satola was used on all of the timber trims.
Even though Emente can colour match existing colours, on this occasion that wasn't necessary. Worn White (no 13) and Putty (no 14) looked exactly like to original colours.
